Danish participation in IEA Wind Task 26 extension will enhance collaboration and understanding of cost trends in wind power, and contribute to knowledge dissemination on the cost aspects of wind power internationally.
Project description
Danish participation in IEA Wind Task 26 extension will enhance collaboration and understanding of cost trends in wind power. Further deployment of onshore and offshore wind power is a cornerstone of Danish energy policy. Improved knowledge of costs and cost drivers play an important role in energy planning, development of tariff structures and estimation deployment costs more accurately.
The analysis of the levelised cost of energy (LCOE) developments for wind Denmark 2013 onwards will be the focus of Work Package 1 (WP1). The LCOE of offshore wind power both generally – and specifically for the Danish conditions – will be explored in WP2. Repowering is already an essential element of the Danish onshore wind landscape, and is expected to gain impotence over time. Better understanding of technological, performance and cost aspect of repowering will be the goal of (WP3). The issue of the value of wind power is becoming increasingly critical nor only in Denmark, but also in other regions with high wind power generation share. Denmark has extensive experience in power system modelling, and will be leading WP4. The Analysis would be carried out using the Balmore-model – with input and collaboration from the other participants.
