FAST TRACK – Industrial Fast Track towards materials endurance

The aim of the present Societal Partnership is to facilitate growth and secure Danish
jobs by leveraging the possibilities of advanced materials and surface-solutions in
new products.

Project description
The aim of the present Societal Partnership is to facilitate growth and secure Danish
jobs by leveraging the possibilities of advanced materials and surface-solutions in
new products. The way to get there is a new one: Industries, knowledge institutes
and universities will work together on the implementation of advanced materials
solutions. As something completely new the collaboration model will use industrial
project managers leading cross-organizatorial mini-projects –called Fast Tracks –
staffed by the best specialists from all the involved partners.
A professional management team will ensure that the different Fast Tracks will be
staffed with the necessary core-competences, solving multidisciplinary material
related problems. Access to relevant analysis equipment will be ensured, including
synchrotron radiation and neutron scattering when needed. It is expected to solve
at least 20 high-impact Fast Tracks throughout the course of the project. The Fast
Tracks are backed up by three R&D-platforms dealing with: (i) characterization and
failure analysis, (ii) Materials and surface solutions, and (iii) Test, modelling and
validation. These platforms will not only provide services to the Fast Tracks, but
will also ensure that future development of advanced materials will be guided by
the needs identified by the industry. The Fast Track model will continuously be
evaluated and improved. Once the Fast Track model is optimized access for other
Danish companies will be made available through an advanced materials portal.
Through partnering the Fast Track model will be disseminated to Danish companies
and with its single-point-of-entry ensure that the industry will always be guided to
the right national material competencies, when specific problems arise.
