Gyro electric energy converter theory and analysis.
The project´s objective is to build a theoretical knowledge about gyro electric energy conversion systems, particularly for use in connection with wave energy. The primary goal will be to develop a control strategy that can optimize energy absorbed in
irregular waves. Different strategies will be tested in AAU wave basin, and on a 5 kW GyroPTO.

Project description
The project´s objective is to build a theoretical knowledge about gyro electric energy conversion systems, particularly for use in connection with wave energy. The primary goal will be to develop a control strategy that can optimize energy absorbed in irregular waves. Different control strategies will be tested in AAU wave basin, and on a 5 kW GyroPTO at Nissum Bredning.
The following main activities will be undertaken:
- There will be developed a control algorithm for a 90 Watt GyroPTO prototype, with the goal toachieve an optimization of the energy absorbed in irregular waves.
- There will be carried out a verification and optimization of the control algorithm in controlledconditions, in a wave basin at AAU.
- The control algorithm will be implemented and tested on a 5 kW GyroPTO at Nissum Bredning.
