Pre-peocess biogas for energy

The project aim is to reduce the loss of methane from livestock buildings and pre-tanks while at the same time biogas plants increasing biogas production. The project aims both on quantifying the loss og methane before the biogas process and developing technology and management systems so that the methane is recovered and greenhouse gas emissions reduced.  
Results

The project includes a combination of determination of the parameters that are important for the development of methane before the biogas process and development of technologies and decision support to minimize or exploration of gas generated during storage in stables and in the tanks of the biogas plants. The project will contribute both to reducing through increased knowledge of time and temperature on losses in the stables, so the biogas plants can organize transport so the manure at greatest risk of loss is collected at more frequent intervals. Similarly, slurry cooling of some type of stables could be a method to reduce the losses. The losses from the pre-tank of biogas plants can be reduced through the development of technology for the collection and gas cleaning or through technologies that minimize losses from these tanks.
