Energy-conscious scouts and guides
The purpose of the project is to develop 10-15 highly inspiring scout's activities, focusing on energy, environment and climate. For scouts and guides in all ages, the activities will provide eye-opening experiences, increase their level of knowledge - and have an impact on attitude and behavior. The Jamboree Denmark 2017 in which 40,000 scouts and guides participate, will constitute a unique forum for development, testing, documentation and promotion.
The Giber A project in 2016 has documented that inspiring activities, focusing on energy, environment and climate have a positive impact (in terms of energy consciousness) on scouts and guides in all ages. The activities provide eye-opening experiences, increase their level of knowledge- and have an impact on attitudes and behavior. In addition to this, the project shows a large demand for standardized activity manuals.
The Jamboree Denmark 2017 in which 40,000 scouts and guides participate, will constitute a unique forum for development, testing, documentation and promotion of the activities.
The five organizations in Denmark: Det Danske Spejderkorps, KFUM Spejderne i Danmark, De grønne pigespejdere, Danske Baptisters Spejderkorps og Dansk Spejderkorps Sydslesvig will be arranging the Jamboree Denmark 2017.
The high professional standard of the five organizations guaranties that the results and experiences from the Giber A project can be raised to a higher level. The new project will develop activities that accommodate the boy scouts' demand for "not school like" activities.
Activities that encourages experimentation, testing of "crazy" ideas, construction and deconstruction and motivates creative thinking and cooperation.
After the Jamboree Denmark 2017, the activities will be converted to standardized activity manuals or activity guides and made available for all scouts and guides in Denmark.
The evaluation of the activities within energy, environment and climate in relation to Scout Camp 2017 support the conclusions from earlier project from Giber Å, that there is a need for developing standardized recepies and guidelines for activities related to energy, environment and climate.
