Combined principles and strategies for IAQ (indoor air quality)
he project develops instructions for correct combination of ventilation principles as well as choice of control strategy based on the load and the rooms geometry and furnishing. Consultations show that energy consumption can be reduced by 30 % while significantly improving the indoor climate. The efforts are being carried out in a broad collaboration between main stakeholders in the ventilation industry.
Numerous buildings are equipped with mechanical ventilation providing insufficient distribution of air in working-zone despite high air supply. This challenge is often caused by habitual thinking in conventional strategies and principles as well as isoterm product-documentation testing products individually and not in interaction.
An extensive amount of theory and documentation of single components is available; however, combination of principles and realistic conditions of use remain unresolved. In several cases moving away from habitual thinking, while applying correct use of principle of air supply and control strategy focusing on combined configuration of existing technologies, has opened for improved solutions ensuring good indoor climate and 30 % reduced energy consumption.
The project brings together all stakeholders in the industry to deliver, investigate, develop and document principles, combination possibilities and strategies as well as related potentials across the range of producers, products and principles so that thorough instructions can be formulated to the contractors. In addition, control strategies will be developed including IoT-solutions.
