Small scale Smart Power buoy for providing autonomous power and data communication in the oceans.
The purpose of this project is to bring the patented Smart Power Buoy in small scale from TRL5 to 7 and make it market ready for a demanding and profitable niche market in the offshore oil and gas sector for providing continuous power and data connection to instruments and technical installations under water. In a very conservative technical field, high reliability is the most important factor in being accepted. Price is of less importance. When the offshore oil and gas sector has first witnessed highreliability and good reference cases in the sector, they are very loyal customers for years to come for reducing costs in the offshore sector.
The main activities:
1. Develop a general and verfied numerical model of the buoy power production through tank testing.
2. Improve and document minimum 12 months of testing in sheltered water as well as in the North Sea to document reliability.
3. Certification of the buoy which "blue stamps" the buoy technology.
4. Optimize manufacturing methods for an important carbon fiber spring and
5. Develop a 1st stage converter input which turns a fluctuating veltage, which varies with wave height, into a stable output voltage.
