EASY-E - Easy Energy Efficiency made Industry Available via Thermal Topology Optimisa-tion

Center for Industriel Materialeteknologi, Materialer
EASY-E will make it easy for companies to develop and manufacture products with optimized thermal performance and reduced energy consumption. This is achieved via Thermal Topology Optimisation and AI – and driven by select industry cases – to ensure full impact of the industry available easy energy efficiency expertise to benefit the environment.
Project description

EASY-E target an ambitious annually energy saving of 9 TWh/year when fully implemented – or equivalent to a CO2 equivalent reduction of 2.6 MTon/year which is 7.3 % of Denmark’s total CO2 equivalent emissions in 2016. The road to these savings is twinned: We will target selected industry cases with state-of-the-art Thermal Topology Optimisation (TTO) to ensure that these products are as energy efficient and environmentally friendly as possible. Additionally, we will use the TTO solutions of the select industry cases to develop an AI software that will make it easy for companies to achieve expert advice for how to energy optimise their product designs.

EASY-E will tackle high impact cases like thermal management for electric car batteries (which is paramount to the efficiency and longevity of the batteries) and efficient and reusable cooling of datacentres (which by  2040 is projected to 22 % of the Danish electricity consumption). Moreover, EASY-E target industry cases that will benefit the select case and company with significant contributions, but which also show the way for a wide range of similar products can be improved.

EASY-E will initiate October 2020 and last three years.
