ACOMAR – Auto Compact Marine Growth Remover

The project partners aim to develop and demonstrate a subsea robot, ACOMAR - Auto COmpact MArine growth Remover, which increases atomization of the marine growth removal process on offshore structures. The goal is to ensure a cost-effective process with a reduction in CO2 emis-sions compared to conventional solutions.
Project description

The project partners aim to develop and demonstrate a subsea robot, ACOMAR - Auto COmpact MArine growth Remover, which increases atomization of the marine growth removal process on offshore structures. The goal is to ensure a cost-effective process with a reduction in CO2 emis-sions compared to conventional solutions.

During the project, an ACOMAR prototype will be developed where the main focus is a compact design that allows for the estimation and removal of marine growth. At the same time, an assess-ment will be made of the most effective and environmentally friendly method for the removal pro-cess. The technology is based on a high degree of automation and a special focus is set on devel-oping methods for locating and controlling the ACOMAR in offshore conditions. The technology is tested in the North Sea, and the results compared with the conventional methods for estimating and removing marine growth.
