To develop, design, calculate system integration and business cases for pit thermal storages fitting into all kind of district heating and cooling systems
In INTEGRATE 2 solutions for long term pit thermal energy storages (PTES), that can be integrated in all
kinds of existing district heating and cooling systems will be developed. The storages will be developed with the functions such as storage for excess heat, for power to heat, as storage for solar thermal, as cold storage for district cooling and for optimization of combined heat and power production. The developmentwill take place in two cases. One in Copenhagen and one in Hjørring/Hirtshals. For each of the casesthe storage solution will be developed, calculation models for system integration in district heating andelectricity systems will be optimized and feasibility calculated.
