Vertical Installer

Reduction of the cost for installaion of WTG towers with 50% at the same time supporting installation for even larger WTG and tower sizes in the future

Project description

The project aim at developing and demonstrating a noval solution for installation of Offshore Wind Turbines (WTG’s). The solution has passed concept lockdown and will be further developed, tested and demonstrated together with the partners Vestas A/S and MHI Vestas A/S.

The solution is a combination of a crane solution, that can work independently of tower height and can be handshaked to the transition piece on the tower from a floating vessel

Vertical Installer will significantly reduce the cost with more than 50% for installation of WTG’s compared with traditional methods from jackup installation vessels. In addition the solution is future proof due to the independency of tower height

The solution will first be tested onshore on Vestas facilities in Q4 2019 and 1 year later test for offshore installation and handshaking will commence. The solution is expected to be ready for the market in the beginning of 2020.
