Databased energy optimization in industry

In industry, despite previous efforts, there is still a large realizable potential for energy savings. With the project's developed IT software package, energy audit consultants and energy man-agers in industrial companies will be able to identify savings in total energy uses based on operational data. The savings can then be quantified and the effect as well as the effect of later implemented improvements can be measured based on the project's developed guidelines.

Project description

The project develops methods with associated tools for optimizing energy consumption and identifying energy saving potentials in industrial companies. Methods and calculation routines are developed for all common types of energy-consuming equipment, such as e.g. refrigeration, ventilation, compressed air, hydraulics, vacuum lighting and pumping systems, as well as boiler systems, evaporators, and drying systems, and systems in combination thereof.

The focus is thus on both the technology level and the system level.

The tool developed in the project is based on generic calculation routines for the individual technologies, which are gathered in one user interface which is built up in Labview.

The tool is documented in a detailed user guide that describes how to use the program, - illustrated with concrete examples.

Finally, a guide is developed with concepts for how various energy-consuming installations are to be equipped with on-line energy meters, in order to be able to collect data to be able to carry out ongoing energy optimization and registration, so as to ensure that the effect of implemented energy efficiency measures is maintained. and so that a basis is generated for future energy optimization.

The tool and the guide are targeted at energy audit consultants and the companies' energy managers.

As the software package is developed under the auspices of ELFORSK, it will be widely available without any costs to users. This, combined with the project's extensive dissemination activities, ensures that tools and guides are used quickly by the target groups.
