UnitSun - PV integrated in prefabricated facade systems.
The aim of the UnitSun project is to develop the worlds most advanced prefabricated PV integrated façade system utilizing all the benefits of the prefabrication approach to the construction market for the business case and that way ensuring that large amounts of solar cells are implemented in the built environment.
HSHansen is a Danish company delivering preassembled modules for curtain walls to high rise building. HSHansen have developed their system UnitAl, offering unique advantages for flexibility of design matching almost any architectural requirement, factory assembled modules and a leightweight system. These things combined lowers the cost for using the UnitAl system. In this project the UnitAl system will be expanded with a UnitSol product range, where also coloured BIPV modules will be integrated into the HS-system, and the UnitSun will offer the same advantages as the UnitAl system and will be able to produce energy to contribute the net zero building regulations.
The challenges and activities the project will address are:
- Expanding the Modular system supporting easy connection and conductor management of the generators, which also includes searching for the best inverter solution considering efficiency, inhomogeneous illumination, safety and grid connection concerns.
- Selecting and documenting the PV panel technology including coloration technology, which requires detailed optical measurements correlation physical quantities to perception.
- System design for optimal fire safety and thermal management, including a certification roadmap.
- Test beds and full scale demonstration
- Development of software tools supporting the deployment.
- Dissemination of results
