AMMARIN - Ammonia as a fuel for marine transport

The purpose of the project is to disseminate and bring together Danish and international activities within IEA member countries regarding the use of ammonia as motorfuel for maritime purposes.

Project description

The IEA technology collaboration program for Advanced Motor Fuels (AMF) has decided to carry out a project entitled "Advanced Maritime Fuels". The purpose of this project is to provide an assessment of the potential and limitations of using alternative fuels for ship transport. Denmark has been appointed as project manager. This project will look at ammonia as a fuel option. To this end, a summary and dissemination of Danish and international activities within IEA member countries is being conducted on the use of ammonia as motor fuel for maritime purposes. This will involve close cooperation within the framework of AMF's member countries, and in particular close cooperation with Korea. In addition, the most important Danish players in the field will be involved in knowledge collection and dissemination of Danish results using ammonia as an engine fuel.
