iTB – integreret Trippel energi Bygge elementer
The project aims to develop and demonstrate a novel type of prefabricated standard building elements called “iTB” or “integrated Triple energy Building elements” for the building industry. These iTB elements shall be able to completely replace standard façade- and roof building elements normally used in the building industry.
Technical University of Denmark, RACELL, DANFOSS and GXN are complementary partners that together will develop, test and demonstrate a novel type of prefabricated standard building element called “iTB” or “integrated Triple energy Building elements”. The term “Triple Energy” means that the iTB element can produce 3 times the energy of a standard PV module (electricity, heating and cooling) and thus make the building produce its own energy and even become self-sufficient on energy. The iTB elements is expected to be a game changer for the construction industry if the technology is successfully developed, demonstrated and commercialized. The project will introduce several cost reductions/efficiency improvements and eventually replace the standard building elements by iTB elements. The aim is that the investment in a new roof plus energy supply for the house (iTB) shall be paid back within 6-10 years. Moreover, the iTB-technology will support the green transformation for buildings powered by oil and gas for the 400,000 Danish households outside the existing district heating areas by installing efficient renewable energy supply including heating and cooling.
