Reduction of ressource consumption on the construction site

ConTech Lab

The aim of the project is to bring the construction industry together and create a positive competitive spiral that accelerates the development towards rapid minimisation of resource consumption on construction sites. The project introduces technology to the construction industry which collects data from resource consumption and sends this to a platform which gives construction management and builders a better opportunity to adjust resource (over)consumption during construction. Based on FBK instructions, the solution should:

·  Create a common method and an industry standard that can compare, measure and quantify the consumption of the different resources on the construction site.

·  Demonstrate technologies that automatically measure, monitor, and document real-time resource usage with data from sensors and API integrations for the construction management and client

·  Make benchmark data available to the industry and make suggestions for minimising resource consumption, thereby increasing the industry's level of ambition in terms of resource savings.

·  Ensure that the results are embodied in the requirements of clients, in the DGNB sustainability certification and in future updates of the Building Regulations..

Project description

The project will be carried out by a broad industry alliance, with the main aim of creating the basis for significantly reducing resource consumption from construction sites. This will be done by creating common technology and a common way of measuring resource consumption in construction via a common data platform. The solution will give construction parties insight into their resource consumption in real time and create incentives to minimize inappropriate resource consumption.

The project creates value throughout the construction value chain and has great potential – partly from a climate perspective and partly from an economic perspective.
