DEMOMO - Digital Energi Modellering for Operationel Vedligeholdelsesoptimering
The purpose of the project is to enable a new highly scalable digital-based expert tool for condition-based maintenance on HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and AirCondition) and drive-line system on battery electric bus (BEB) fleets. Bus operators can gain substantial operational cost savings by using such a service-tool.
The objective of the project is to enable a new highly scalable digital-based expert tool for condition-based maintenance on HVAC and drive-line system on electric bus fleets. In short – a system that can save bus operators substantial operational cost by avoiding unnecessary battery energy waste and battery wear. For operators of battery busses range and energy consumption relative to the route are central key TAS grunddata Side 2 af 3 performance indicators (KPI) and soon CO2-emission will also be a mandatory KPI. The energy consumption depends on route, speed, driving style, charge pattern, climate systems (HVAC) and other auxiliary systems. All energy used on a battery bus has a much higher cost than the upfront electricity price for charging. Unnecessary energy consumption means increased cost, less range, more battery wear, longer time for charging and in the perspective of clean public transport fewer routes that may be suited for electrification. Timely maintenance of HVAC-systems is a low hanging fruit but also optimized driving style and planning of charging have significant effects on a bus’s economy and longevity.
