Bæredygtigt flybrændstof til grøn omstilling

Chemicals Technology

The FrontFuel project aims to revolutionize production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) by pioneering a path for industry first-movers by showcasing an innovative, highly efficient value chain. By harnessing CO2 and renewable electricity, the project will create solutions that not only benefit the environment but also provide value for end users.

Project description

As the political and societal ambitions for the green transition increases, the need for actively implementing new and sustainable technical solutions also increases. In the field of aviation fuels, a hard to abate segment, transitioning to sustainable solutions is challenged by high costs and technology risks as well as a requirement of high efficiencies. It is the ambition of the FrontFuel project to pave the way for first movers by demonstrating a new and highly efficient value chain for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) production based on CO2 and renewable electricity, to suit both for the environment and the end users. The new technology frontend of SOEC with eREACT™ is the potentially best in class route for syngas generation from CO2. This technology combined with the proven and certified fuels synthesis by FT can effectively inherit the existing value chain of fossil-based aviation fuel for fast market penetration. Through the project, full process chain demonstration normalized from 6 Nm³/h CO2 (equivalent to 0.5 BPD in an integrated plant at expected >95% carbon efficiency) will be done, together with carbon intensity analysis of the final fuel, which will be condensed to a technology standpoint paper of the technology.
