CORTIR Phase III - Omkostninger, risiko og innovativ bagkant-forstærkningen

Formålet med projektet er, at have mere pålidelige WTG-vinger i drift med forlænget levetid, sænke OPEX og optimere AEP, gennem anvendelsen af en risikobaseret tilgang. Hvis vingerne kan forblive i drift længere, vil efterspørgslen på fremstilling af nye vinger til gamle vindmøller blive reduceret.

Project description

With increasing WTG blade lengths structural failures of the blades have become a larger risk, resulting in increased cost for repair and loss of AEP. One of the most critical structural issues of large blades (+60m) is trailing edge split in the max chord region. This failure mode is occurring more frequently due to increased size of blades and corresponding peeling forces in the trailing edge bondlines. As trailing edge split can lead to critical failures, this failure mode has become a significant risk and cost for the industry.

The consortium in this project will develop and demonstrate in field conditions the innovative technology of an uptower retrofit solution, which will be ready to be commercialized by Bladena after the project ends. The innovative Trailing Edge permanent solution will be based on a patent owned by Bladena and it will remove the root cause of the trailing edge split failure mode and provide more reliable blades for the WTOs.

The development of the solution will consist of multi-level experimental testing in the DTU Structural Lab, field measurement campaign and demonstration on a large modern wind turbine and is owned and operated by one of the 17 WTOs who participate in this project.
