IEA Task 52: Implementering af Vind Lidar i stor skala

DTU Wind and Energy Systems

 • Ensuring Danish participation in IEA Task 52. Without this project there will not be any Danish participation in IEA Task 52. It is necessary to maintain Danish companies’ strategic position and relevance in this technical area in an international level.

• Facilitating dissemination and coordination activities in Denmark in connection to this Task. Even though Task 52 progress (e.g. webinars and general meetings) and outcomes (technical reports, open databases, etc) will be publicly available to Danish companies once Denmark’s participation in the Task is granted, this project aims at taking additional action in reaching out to Danish stakeholders, and where necessary coordinate at a national strategic level (e.g. in areas where Task 52 work may be relevant to standardization or R&D collaboration projects where several Danish companies are involved).

The overall objective of IEA Task 52 is to support the widespread deployment of wind lidars. Task 52 is a relaunch and follow-up of Task 32, which was a very successful task that involved several Danish stakeholders that participated in or followed up actively the Task activities. As expressed by the letters of support received by DTU (see appendix A), several Danish companies confirmed their wish to join the new Task and support this project application, and it is expected that other Danish companies will join the Task in the future.

Project description

Task 52 has four different working groups: a) Universal inflow characterization; b) Replacing met masts; c) Connecting wind lidar; d) Accelerating offshore wind deployment. There are several Danish companies interested in participating in the Task.

This project facilitates DTU’s participation in several Task 52 dissemination activities like topical workshops and general meetings. Active and constant participation in the Task working groups (e.g. participation in round-robin data analysis exercises or writing IEA technical reports or recommended practices) is not part of this scope.

In this project DTU will reach out to Danish stakeholders to reinforce, at national level, dissemination of Task 52 status and outcomes.

Without participation in Task 52, Danish stakeholders will be disconnected from wind industry’s needs and latest developments in lidars. The Task offers an ideal framework to provide the wind industry stakeholders with sufficient level of knowledge and experience.

Tasks in the project:

1) Participation in Task 52 workshops and meetings; 2) yearly dissemination workshops with Danish industry; 3) communication and reporting to EUDP.
