Registration of Danish energy literature and descriptions of energy research projects, and cooperation with international information systems

Being a Danish knowledge centre, the centre collects and communicates information about Danish energy publications to the IEA database ETDEWEB (www.etde.org/etdeweb). Moreover, information about ERP projects is collected in the DENP database. Risø also acts as an updating centre for the Danish web portal on EU energy research (www.energi-tp.dk).

Project description

The aim is to make information about Danish energy research and its results available to users in Denmark and abroad and, through international co-operation, to make international research and its results available to Danish research organizations and industry. The aim is obtained through co-operation with international and national databases, primarily ETDEWEB (results in the form of publications) and Danish Energy R&D projects (descriptions of research and development projects). Literature: Registration of Danish energy literature is related to the Danish Energy Authority's membership of the Implementing Agreement for the Establishment of the IEA Energy Technology Data Exchange (IEA-ETDE). The product of this agreement is Energy Database - named ETDEWEB as the internet version (www.etde.org/etdeweb). The membership of the agreement obliges to deliver information to the database on the member country's own publications. All types of scientific and technical literature (including reports from the Energy Research Programme and the Programme for Energy Technology Development and Demonstration), journal articles and conference papers, are collected and registered according to ETDE's rules. The records are sent to ETDE's database regularly. Many reports are sent to the database in full text for direct download from ETDEWEB. All reports are available on loan from Risø Library. R&D projects: Descriptions of new ERP projects (the Energy Research Programme), EUDP projects (Programme for Energy Technology Development and Demonstration), PSO projects (Public Service Obligation), ENMI projects (from the Danish Council for Strategic Research, Programme Commission on Energy and Environment) are registered from a form filled out by the project leaders when receiving the grant. When a project is completed, the existing record is updated with summaries of the result and with brief information on the publications from the project. The project descriptions are included in the database Danish Energy R&D projects (http://iis-03.risoe.dk/netahtml/risoe/ENS/efp_uk.htm) which is available for free for Danish as well as for international users. Knowledge Centre: due to the tasks that Risø DTU performs under this project, Risø acts as the Danish knowledge centre for Danish R&D and offers advice on the use of energy databases such as ETDEWEB and Danish Energy R&D Projects. Risø also acts as the updating centre for the Danish web portal for EU energy technology research www.energi.tp.dk

Results

The aim is to disseminate information about Danish research and development within energy both nationally and internationally, and to provide access to international R&D results to Danish research institutions, Danish industry and other interested citizens. Results - Literature: The aim is achieved through systematically recording the energy literature which is published in Denmark and regularly delivering the records to ETDE World Energy Base (ETDEWEB, www.etde.org/etdeweb) and other relevant energy databases. Many of the records also include the electronic full text or links to full text. The process of delivering the records to ETDEWEB has been optimized, i.e. the database producer (Operating Agent) automatically harvests the records, and thereby the Danish records are included in the database more timely. ETDEWEB is operated by a number of IEA countries, including Denmark, as a result of Implementing Agreement for the Establishment of the IEA Energy Technology Data Exchange (IEA-ETDE, j.no. 33033-0133). Access to the database depends on membership of the agreement. Many developing countries, how-ever, have free access. Results - R&D Projects: The aim is achieved through hosting and updating the database Danish Energy R&D Projects (DENP, www.energyprojects.dk). The database contains descriptions of projects funded by the programmes EUDP, EFP, PSO, by The Danish Council for Strategic Research, and by Danish National Advanced Technology Foundation. New projects are recorded on a regular basis and existing records are updated when the projects are completed (new summary with the achieved results and publications). DENP is accessible free of charge to everybody both nationally and internationally
