Pre-project: Investigation of solutions for CPH-plant in Gjøl

The purpose of the project was to evaluate possible solutions for the unfinished Gjøl Private Kraftvaremanlæg (GPKV) which is based on the gasification technology from TK Energy. The following method is used: 1) Inspection of the plant carried out by 1st Mile, Henrik Houmann Jacobsen (BioSynergi) and Gjøl. 2) Meeting with TK Energi. 3) Set up of model to calculation of the economy for different scenarios for GPKV, where GPKVs present situation is used as the basic scenario. 4) Calculation of the effect compared to the basic scenario for. 5) Completion of the CHP plant. 5) Conversion to wood chips incineration. 6) Conversion back to natural gas CHP plant. 7) Other technical solutions. Based on the given conditions, the conclusions are: A conversion to wood chips based heat production will reduce the heating price and the plant will most likely be operational before the next heating season. If GPKV is able to obtain full external funding for the financing of the completion of the gasification system the heating price, when stable operational conditions are achieved after 5 years, will be reduced, but it will still be a more expensive solution than converting to wood chips based heat production. During the first 5 years the consumers will lose the potential savings that will otherwise be obtained with the wood chips based heat production. In the calculations of the resulting heating price reduced availability and valuation of the technical risks are not included (there is no guarantee that the plan will be ready for stable operation after a 19 mio. DKK investment and 5 years' time). Under the same assumptions the heating price will increase substantially, if GPKV is to finance the 19 mio. DKK investment themselves.
