Window knowledge system
The project aims to update a five-year old window knowledge system offering users an overview of available energy-efficient solutions for the design of new buildings and replacement of windows in existing buildings. The system will also be available to window manufacturers developing increasingly energy-efficient windows.
Results
There is a large energy saving potential in Denmark designing and using windows with optimum energy quali-ties. The object of the project was to develop a “window knowledge system” based on the work done in al-ready finished projects carried out at BYG·DTU during the last 10 years. The main background material (14 compendiums) for the knowledge system was created in the project with the title “Projekt Vindue”. This work/material has been reviewed and updated. The focus of this window knowledge system is an objective information source on the energy performance of all types of windows. The window knowledge system should also details describes how to calculate the energy labelling data (U-value, Y-value and Net Energy Gain) of a window according to the standards.
