Ensuring operability of mass and energy integrated process plants (OPERA)
The project purpose is to ensure that a large fraction of the potential for mass- and energyintegration can be exploited in industrial process plants. Today a significant fraction of the potentially possible mass- and integration possibilities are omitted with reference to a possible reduction in plant operability.
Based upon earlier projects a method for analysis of plant operabillity will be developed. Furthermore a methods for control structuring of the integration proposals that require more advanced control will be developed. The project will focus at methods that can be exploited for development of sustainable process technology and for retrofitting existing process plants. In connection with the project an industrial consortium is being established with three Danish companies. The consortium delivers relatively energy intensive processes for evaluation of the developed technology. This technology is considered evaluated on the energy integrated distillation plant at the Department of Chemical Engineering, DTU. The benefit from this technology is planned to be evaluated at the industrial processes
