DK-Superconductors in the power sector
On a one-year term the technological possibilities in the application of superconductors for power transmission will be investigated, based on the experience gained from the building of a 10 m long, low-voltage, high-current cable.
The long-term purpose of this project is to form the basis for the application of high-Tc superconductors in the Danish power sector with potential commercial and energy savings. On a one-year term the technological possibilities in the application of superconductors for power transmission will be investigated, based on the experience gained from the building of a 10 m long, low-voltage, high-current cable. The possible benefits from a reorganisation of the transmission net, optimized to superconducting technology will be investigated theoretically. On a three-year term a 30 m long three-phase high-power, medium-voltage cable will be demonstrated. Parallel to this, production techniques for superconducting tapes are further developed in order to ensure the project participants international competitiveness
