Design regulations for offshore wind farms
On short term the aim with this project is to collect and analyse knowledge about wind and sea, to make it possible to make the tenders for the first offshore wind farms ultimo 1999. In finalised form the aim is to make the design regulations for these farms and to point out and document deviations from existing regulations.
Hereafter the main aim is to create general design regulations for offshore wind farms. Wind data analyses and system modelling will be made to qualify the design basis. The wind turbine foundation loads will be based upon now known turbine design, rectified according the ongoing offshore development, such as lower tower, bigger rotor diameter and higher output power (1.6 - 3 MW) as pointed out in the RISØ VEA rapport 'Cost Optimisation of Wind Turbines for Large-Scale Offshore Wind Farms', February 1998. The wind turbine manufactures will be included as early as possible in the discussions and aspects of the project. The last part of the project will - beside publishing of the results - include planning of measurements, so data collection can be started immediately after completion of the first offshore wind farm(s). This project can be considered as a phase 1 of establishing the general offshore wind farm regulations
