Sensor for registering lightning strikes to wind turbines

The aim of the project is to develop and test a sensor for registering lightning strikes to wind turbines to be included in the general survillance and control systems of modern wind turbines.

Project description

The work program is as follows: 1) Laboratory development and testing January - June 1998. 2) Production of sensors and installation in approx. 40 wind turbines July - December 1998. 3) Testing and evaluations January 1999 - December 2000. The status of the project (January 1998) is that sensors and measurement principles have been tested in laboratory and preparations for further laboratory development and testing are being made. The developed sensor will be presented to interested manufactures for commercialisation
