Use of Oscillation measurement troubleshooting on turbine mechanical parts

We have together with our development provide a solution and give the windmill owner, or the mill operator, an early warning of potentially serious errors.
Project description

Efficient sprockets, gears and bearings will provide a continuous slight whistling sound. Turbine elements such as cog in the gears will run smoothly and interact with each other with stable vibrational. Sound and vibration from damaged gears and bearings will, once they settle against each other, creating an abnormal peak in the vibration output. With the development of measuring devices based on interference analysis we will give the technician an early warning of potentially errors. When listening to the mill we give operator the opportunity to optimize planning of service with much greater certainty and accuracy. The technological, compared to the traditionally frequency analysis (FFT) is located in the measurements, which with our patented method is significantly more valid, and the errors can be detected in an earlier stage. Furthermore Oscillation analyses are not dependent on the speed the turbine is running. The new analyze are similar to those influences that are registered by the ear. The time aspect of the oscillations is very important to the soundstage, and in our analysis method we can provide results that are based on several frequencies, and therefore are much more reliable than the (FFT) frequency analysis.

Results

OrtoSens have developed a piece of software that automatic – with help from an oscillationsanalyze – can find reference signals at different wind speeds at a windmills vital parts. Thereby the most important part of product has been developed. But it did not succeed regarding the development   of the device making condition evaluations. This is due to the fact that the altogether price for the software, was simply too expensive.
