Torrefaction development and demonstration plant

The project goal is to accelerate the implementation of large scale torrefaction technology able to produce up to 500.000 ton torrified material per year, thereby supporting the political aim of increasing the utilisation of solid biofuel in the energy sector. Dissemination of the results and achievements from the project will be undertaken with duly respect to the need of patents on specific core technologies of the technology. Within the frames of this, the project will be disseminated as follows: 1) AFB: - Dissemination of the results and the product as part of their marketing of the technology; 2) DTI: - articles in national and international journals on bioenergy (FiB, Biofuel International etc.), - minimum 2 papers in peer-reviewed journals e.g. Feul and Biomass & Bioenergy on a) biomass resources, physical and chemical changes in the biomass as consequence of the torrefaction, b) pelletizing of torrefied material; 3) AFB and DTI: - presentation at national and international conferences, - host a one- or two-day conference at the plant site demonstrating the technology, the conference will include technical seminars with internal and external top-level experts
