IEA Bioenergy Task 37 - Energy from biogas
The IEA-Task 37, Energy from biogas is an international partnership of knowledge transfer and research exchange, aiming to carry out expert technical work, expert technical support to policy makers and information dissemination in the area of biogas. Task -37 is part of the International Energy Agency- Bioenergy and its activity is carried out as common project for the involved 15 Partners: Austria, Brazil, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom and the European Commission
The aim is international collaboration and mutual exchange of information in the area of biogas technologies, to provide the basis for decision making and for biogas development.
Objectives are
1) Assessment of existing and emerging biogas technologies, environmental sustainability of biogas and definition of criteria for quality standards for biogas and digestate.
2) Assistance to member- and non-member countries to develop appropriate legislation and practices in the area and to develop the national market for biogas. 3) Dissemination of technical biogas information for experts, decision makers and the large public
Between 1.01.11-31.06.12 Teodortia Al Seadi /Syddansk University has carried out on the behalf of Denmark, union work for "IEA Bioenergy Task 37_Energy from biogas" which translates into participation with submissions to the Task meeting, technical workshop and study tour, organization and service for the networking and research exchange workshop and meetings in Denmark, publications, participation to professional meetings and related workshops etc. Besides these, overall communication, networking and exchange of biogas knowledge and information with other task members and with other IEA Bioenergy tasks and biogas stakeholders was conducted.
The activities implemented is based on the Danish biogas research and development as well as Danish energy and biogas policy, including exchange scars experience, knowledge and contacts.
The aim was to promote the development and expansion of the biogas sector in Task 37- member and non member countries to establish favorable legislative and economic framework for biogas in these countries, and to develop sound national biogas markets with similar environmental improvements as a result.
The project activities in the period progressed as planned, according to IEA Bioenergy Task 37_2011-2013 Work Plan.
