IEA Annex 30: Offshore comparison of dynamic computer codes and models
The purpose of this project is to develop and validate the existing aeroelastic computer codes related to offshore wind turbines and their substructures on water depths above 20 m. Two types of substructures have been chosen where the first is a jacket and the second is a floating structure. The project is an international cooperation between leading institutions regarding development of simulation tools for offshore wind turbines. It is carried out within the framework of IEA Annex 30 titled ''Offshore Comparison of Dynamic Computer Codes and Models''. This annex continues the previous annex 23, where the purpose was to develop and validate simulation codes for chosen substructures on water levels up to 30 m and a special floating concept for water levels above 150 m. The unique about this and the previous annex is the constellation of experts from wind turbine industry and research institutions together with experts from the conventional oil and gas industry. This enables sharing of knowledge for all participants leading to increase reliabilty which is crucial for cost effective offshore wind turbines.
