Intelligent heat systems - high energy efficient wood stoves with low emissions
The aim of this project is to develop a wood stove with high energy efficiency and low emissions of pollutants and CO2. We will develop a generic control system for wood stoves and an optimized combustion chamber - both usable in various wood stove designs. The first step in the project is to establish a control system, find components, develop a generic software module, and incorporate this in an existing wood stove design. The system will be tested in laboratories and in situ under controlled conditions. The system will ensure improved stove operation irrespective of stove owner behaviour. The generic control system will be marketed to other wood stove manufacturers. In addition, a new combustion chamber layout will be developed based on fundamental knowledge on the combustion and pollution-formation process, including mathematical modelling of the dynamics of a batch-fired combustion process. Finally an improved combustion chamber with control system integrated will be designed based on systematic experiments in the laboratories. The final approval of the wood stove system will be carried out by an approved technological service institute
This project aims at establishing tight collaboration between a research centre and an industry to develop and demonstrate the next generation of wood stoves. A system for digital control of the combustion process in wood stoves and an improved combustion chamber will be developed and demonstrated
