Energy frames: Dynamic energy efficient facade system

The aim of the Energy Frames project is to develop a reasonably priced, industrial standard system of attractive, energy efficient and energy positive façade screening elements for use in combination with low-energy windows. Dynamic, moving systems with adjustable features to optimize the indoor climate and reduce energy consumption. The aim is to develop a unique combination of daylight control, solar transmission, privacy, thermal insulation and ventilation. By basing the new window and façade screening system on existing technologies, components and know-how from Art Andersen and PRO TEC Vinduer, it is the ambition to obtain very high efficiency and quality. And by basing the new system on mass production at PRO TEC Vinduer, an attractive and realistic price level will be reachable. Moreover, it is a goal to achieve simple logistics from factory to final assembly on the buildings. Energy Frames will be targeted at mass production and an attractive price level, to ensure a wide application potential in new buildings and façade renovation projects within commercial buildings, institutions and housing

Results

The main objective is to develop a new generation of advanced solutions for architecturally attractive, highly energy efficient windows and facade systems. Combining control of daylight and solar transmission, provacy, thermal insulation and ventilation is made possible through a systematic approach to integration of components in new materials.
