Resource conscious commercial and house building in Ørestad

This project was the framework for a competition on sustainable building in four dimensions (an environmental and energy perspective, as well as architecturally, functionally and commercially) for a construction site in the new urban area at Ørestaden in Copenhagen. The competition was won by a consortium comprising Cubo Arkitekter, COWI and passivhus.dk, with a building which has a calculated energy need of about 30% less than low-energy class 1 for both commercial and residential properties. Construction costs have been callculated at a level equal to or lower than traditional new building of the same standard. The winning project is described (in English) at www.4dimensions.dk.
