Phase 3: Solar cells and LED - 100% self-sufficient post top project
By combining solar cells, LED lighting, intelligent electronic and a newly developed inverter a functional model of a new outdoor lighting concept is produced. In the summertime it produces more electricity than used and compensate for the light xtra use in the wintertime. The concept is adapted with more design up to COP 15.
Results
The result is solar-driven and CO2 neutral LED light that is self-sufficient with energy all year alså in Denmark.
The product concept Adelie Sun is integrated in Thorn's LED light Adelie, that is internationally launched in 2009. A existing new Danish design is used and futher developed with solar cells and new lighting technology. The product can be used both on-grid (connected with the electricity grid by cables) or off-grid (a stand-alone solutions without cables).
