Modulating ventilation - low cost VAV - for office buildings
Energy consumption and indoor climate parameters are measured in to office buildings and there is developed a ventilation system with sensors, improvede fittings and building of ports. The new concept is expected to be several times cheaper than a fully VAV system and is tested in one of the office buildings and the saving potential is estimated.
The result is a concept for renovation of older existing CAV systems to modulating low cost VAV systems. The concept is implemented on a complete CAV system at Velux A/S and on a part of a bigger CAV system at Dansk Metal.
The concept is based on that the ventilated area is dvivided into indoor climate zones, that covers one or several offices with the same indoor climate need.
For this preliminary indoor climate assessment to simple tools are developed and they can estimate the temperature level in one room based on the ventilation air volume, heat load etc.
- BSimFast
- BSimLight
There is also developed a regulating algorithm that secures control of the whole ventilation system based on exhaust temperature for the individual climate zones and with the criteria that at least one regulation slide is minimum 80 % open.
