Project description

Power supply problems worldwide are not only due to the depletion of conventional energy resources but also due to continuously increasing consumption. This overloads both distribution grids and power stations which has serious consequences on power availability, security and quality. During the past decade, renewable energy technologies have achieved very high engineering standards, not only due to ecological reasons but also because of the decentralized nature of renewable resources which makes them able to contribute to solving the above mentioned electrification problems. The use of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind turbines, fuel cells, etc. is being rapidly increasing and the necessity for stable and performant grid-interface converters is becoming very actual. The high concentration of Distributed Power Generation Systems (DPGS) leads to stability problems and though reliable grid condition detection and advanced control becomes a must.
