Probabilistic design of wind turbines
By targeting basic probabilistic methods for the special conditions applying to wind turbines, and by rationally using uncertainties from experiments assessing the material and component strength in a probabilistic design, attempts will be made to optimise the wind turbine design to ensure lower electricity production prices.
This project is focused on developing methods for probabillistic design of wind turbines, including modeling of uncertainties, techniques for estimating the reliability and methods for rational planning of operation and maintenance. The research has been concentrated in the following three main areas: - Extreme loads during normal operation; - Reliability of structural wind turbine components/blades; - Reliability-based design of offshore wind turbiens and wind farms.
