Environmentally sustainable utilization of waste resources for energy production (ENSUWE)
The ENSUWE project will focus on optimised adaptation of waste-based technologies in the energy system. Waste-specific energy scenarios allow assessment of the overall environmental consequences of exploiting the waste resource to optimise the interaction between various energy technologies
The project expanded existing Danish energy models with a view specifically to model energy generation from waste. The project systematically developed the LCA method approach to enable it to comprise downstream energy substitutions from waste, including in particular effects on electricity and heat generation. The project evaluated the energy and environmental qualities of several waste technologies and also the possibility for fitting them into the energy system.
