Results

The project group cooperated to identify the potential for applying groundwater cooling in Denmark. The ATES (Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage) concept may result in energy savings of up to 90% on cooling and heating. However, comprehensive prestudies are required before a system can be established in respect of the subsoil and without risk of subsequent operating problems. Consequently, the project developed a calculation tool for owners and consultants and established a mobile test system for measuring and simulating full-scale operation to determine local conditions for groundwater cooling.
