Results

The project group studied the possibilities of preventing rime formation on cooling and freezing furniture in supermarkets by removing part of the air humidity via air-conditioning systems and by applying various regulation strategies. Under normal operating conditions, it would be best to apply a regulation strategy involving continuous operation and adapted evaporation temperatures, since this strategy ensures the best COP – and thus the lowest energy consumption – and the best product quality since the temperature in the furniture can be kept constant because of fewer defrostings.
