Optimization of night-cooling in buildings using of local weather forecasts
The object of this project was to study whether the energy consumption for office building cooling can be reduced by using night-cooling in a way that prevents the discomfort of too low morning temperatures. For this purpose, the project devised and tested new strategies for regulating thermal impacts by including local weather forecasts to predict building heat load for the next 24 hours. The project increased knowledge about construction technical aspects that affect night-cooling. However, the project did not succeed in simulating energy consumption by applying optimised control strategies.
