Coating of ventilation components - analysis of mode of operation and effect as well as demonstration
This project attempted to coat ventilators used in piggeries, where ventilators operate under particular stressful conditions. Lab measurements showed that the efficiency ratio of brand new ventilators cannot be improved by coating. Subsequent measurements on a ventilation unit which had been in operation for almost six months in a typical piggery with sows showed that dirty ventilators increase electricity consumption for ventilation by 5-10% depending on the temperature in the piggery. Caking of pollutants can be reduced by coating the ventilator, thus making cleaning easier.
