Possibilities and barriers for development of Danish 'Energy Service Companies' (ESCO-virksomheder)

The report is launched on the initiative of The Danish Energy Industries Federation, Confederation of Danish Industries and partly financed by Danish En-ergy Companies - Net. The input has been collected in conjunction with a workshop hosted by the Energy Industry under the heading, 'Is the time ripe for Danish energy service companies?', held April 24 2006. The workshop was visited by 53 participants from various current and potential spheres of the ESCO-model. The barriers as well as opportunities for ESCOs were central to the dialogue of the workshop. Accordingly, the presentations and discussions at the work-shop represents the first, qualitative, axis of input for this report. The second, quantitative, axis of input for the report is the results from a sur-vey completed by participants at the workshop. The survey sought to rank a number of barriers as well as inquire into the current and future market of ESCO companies operating from Denmark.
