Teenagers' development of action competences in relation to energy consumption - development of method for evaluation of influence and effect
The project developed a teaching concept and an evaluation tool which schools can use to promote energy consciousness in energy-squandering teenagers by increasing student understanding of the relationship between electricity consumption and the environment. The study material is available at www.skoleenergi.dk/teen and can be used in subjects such as physics/chemistry, geography, social studies and mathematics. Practical class tests in ten grade 7-9 classes with subsequent evaluation of six of the classes showed that students reduce their electricity consumption by an average 15% and specific standby consumption by 36% after the classes.
