Through practical trials on refrigerated cabinets and freezers in supermarkets, this project has demonstrated that electricity savings of up to about 15% of the total energy consumption of refrigerated cabinets can be achieved by more intelligent defrosting and edge and window heating, using newly developed electronic control systems. The electronic control systems have secured better temperature quality in refrigerators and freezers and no condensation problems have been observed. The project has contributed to the situation that today intelligent control systems for refrigeration and freezers are available on the market. (Energy 11)
