BioRec - Biotechnology in oil recovery
Despite existing modern technologies about 70% of Danish oil resources are considered unrecoverable. Advanced biotechnology could improve oil recovery and reduce transport systems downtime.
Project description
The project includes development and testing of biotechnological solutions for oil recovery - Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) - in the Danish limestone fields in the North Sea. As an added bonus, biotechnology may also reduce the microbial destruction of material and limit blockage of oil pipes due to gas hydrates. (Energy 11)
