The objective was to assess the potential of addition of sulphur with a view to emission control in connection with natural gas-firing in swirl-stabilised diffusion burner and in engines and, if possible, to determine the mechanisms for the effect of small sulphur volumes on the fuel oxidation speed. Addition of sulphur in connection with combustion of natural gas in swirl-burner has resulted in massive CO reductions.
