This project verified CFD modelling of grate-fired boilers at power stations using straw firing, viz. Ensted Power Plant and Avedøre II. The combustion process was described, and the documentation divides combustion into individual elements and into separate zones across the grate. Similarly, a model for asymmetrical combustion and flow in the boiler was described. The models developed can be used for calculating future chip or waste-fired power stations.
