Online contact-free gas analysis in biomass plants
Contact-free, fast optic measurements of NO and other gas concentrations at high temperatures in boiler rooms, burners and engines are of particular interest. In this context, the infrared (IR) and UV absorption spectra of NO were measured in a high-temperature gas cell from room temperature to 1,400-1,500° C. Moreover, measurements were made of H2O IR spectra in terms of interference. Measurements on a gas cell were compared with simulated spectra based on HITRAN-2006 and HITEMP-1996, which showed reasonable consistency in selected spectral areas. A test measurement at the AVV2 boiler were made and analysed, and detection limits for NO were discussed.
